Ajax Cape Town have just announced the capture of former Super Eagles winger, Ejike Uzoenyi.
The player is a familiar face in South Africa having been voted MVP of the 2014 African Nations Cup (CHAN) tournament hosted in the Mother City.
Uzoenyi found it difficult to get game time after he was signed by Mamelodi Sundowns later that year. He later joined Bidvest Wits, but played a limited part — due to injury — in their journey to lifting the ABSA Premiership crown last season.
The crafty forward is keenly remembered in South Africa for his brace at Cape Town Stadium when he helped Nigeria knock hosts South Africa out of the 2014 CHAN showpiece, prompting the then Minister of Sports Fikile Mbalula to infamously refer to Bafana Bafana as a ‘bunch of losers’.
Uzoenyi will be hoping to turn his professional career around at Cape Town committing to a contract which runs till 2021.
